I decided to choose 5 articles that were relatable to some of the topics we discussed in class. I wanted to target my articles on the effects that social media have on the younger generation and how this could be a bad thing. The younger generation is our future so I think it's important that we protect their mentally health just as much as we protect our own. I even found two articles that speak on ways that one could potentially help them find the right balance. I found these articles to be very interesting. I say this because you never really think of the negative effects when you get caught up in your day to day activities on the toll that technology is doing to us all. These articles were really eye opening.
Part 2
The METAVERSE
Where is the Metaverse now? Did ChatGPT sideline it? Will it ever come to fruition?
Metaverse has died down some but is still around. Companies are still trying to explore the full potential of what they think will possibly be seen in the future with technology. I think ChatGPT in a way did sideline it. I say this because it is just like a kid getting a new toy. A lot of people are excited about new technology and what it can do. when a new phone comes out for instance a lot of people want to see and figure out the latest new features and what makes this device worth getting, same case with ChatGPT. it does some of everything, it's new so people love it. every piece of technology has its turn until something new and better is invented. I feel that it has a chance to fruition.
Quoted from article
"As for Meta's virtual reality headsets, it's hard to see how current technology is anything close to the vision the company's boss has articulated.
Meta's headsets have sold more than 20 million units, according to a Verge story from earlier this year. That isn't bad - and its Quest 2 headset received positive reviews."
"Zuckerberg most certainly still believes in it - as he expresses through Meta's cheque book. In July he said that Reality Labs is expected to post even bigger losses next year.”
“The metaverse, then, is still very much alive at Meta - but most of the rest of the tech world appears to have moved on."
