Exploring Brand Guides

The two brand guides that i have chosen where “Apple” and “ESPN”

APPLE

1.) Apple key elements of their Brand guide content is mainly seen from their logo. They give guidelines on how the apple logo should be properly used. I would also say they're color variations that are seen in the logo “color pallet”. More so how they display their products, the aesthetic and representation of their products from how they package their items. They're trademark symbols and also adding in their legal guidelines.

2.) Apple overarching design components of the guide itself reflects consistency. I say this because a lot of Apple products create a consistent pattern for me. This is shown through layout content. Words aren't cluttered up, the right amount of spacing between logo and words. Easy to read and understand. Consistent with the same colors that they use (black, white, hint of gray). I also think that they do really well with the weight of text and logo.

3.) The stated requirements for the use of branded materials was to insure the integrity over the apple brand. It stated “The Apple channel signatures and graphics described in these guidelines are for use only by current Apple channel affiliates who have signed the Apple Authorized Reseller Agreement and by individuals with a current Apple certification. Apple channel affiliates and Apple-certified individuals must follow these guidelines when publicizing their relationship with Apple in communications.

Apple reserves the right to withdraw permission to use an Apple channel signature at any time if the use of the signature is inconsistent with these guidelines or is otherwise deemed inappropriate by Apple. Apple channel signatures cannot be used in connection with any communications that do not meet the criteria outlined in the Apple Authorized Reseller Agreement or Apple Certification Agreement”. Apple Requirements

4.) According to outside sources, Apple's mission/ vision statement is to “bring the best user experience to customers through innovative hardware, software, and services.” And the Apple vision statement is “to make the best products on earth and to leave the world better than we found it.” Apple Mission/Vision statement

5.) Some components that I wish to add to my own brand guide that I found interesting that Apple uses is the consistency of my color pallet. I may even use those exact colors because they are very neutral and read across the room very well together. Along with the idea of creating a brand where I can innovate new ideas and experiences into the world.

ESPN

1.) ESPN brand guide content is mainly their design elements. In their design elements one can see different styles being used along with the compositions of the different photos taken to brand certain athletes, or sport. They also do well at the use of color that red creates a really bright energetic feel and is very eye-catching with the use of white helping it stand out more. The font chosen has created weight to it.

2.) ESPN overarching design components of the guide itself reflects an energetic brand. From the use of colors, bold text, a clear understanding of how the logo should be seen, including the subtext, the images, sponsors name and hairline rule creates a well consistent balance in the overall guide and understanding of weight from the text size.

3.) The stated requirements for the use of branded materials was to insure that “Your use of any ESPN API content, whether served from your Web site or from a client application, must appropriately attribute ESPN by adhering to the following guidelines: All applications must feature one of the ESPN logos found below on any page or screen that displays ESPN API content or data”. Along with “The selected logo must be used at the full size that is provided, and should be clearly visible, and not altered, resized, or obstructed in any way.The ESPN logo should not be the most prominent element or logo on the Web page, nor the only branding on the page”. 4.) According to outside sources, ESPN's mission/ vision statement is to “ Serve Sports Fans. Anytime. Anywhere”. ESPN MISSION STATEMENT

5.) Some components that I wish to add to my own brand guide that I found interesting that ESPN uses is the energetic feel to my brand. I want to keep neutral colors but I also want the logo to have a very energetic feel to it.
